Bathroom Vanities for Home Designers

Friday, January 14th, 2011

Your bathroom can opt for an old style, stone-based or futuristic design with its different bath vanities. The old style works best for houses with Victorian or Mediterranean architecture. The antique look is achieved through the wood based doors, latches, and knobs and the marble or china countertops. On the other hand, the stone based design provides an enduring mood with its durable material. Stone materials are so durable they can withstand a lot of water from sink use. For those with modern homes, futuristic vanities are preferred. These use frosted glass and stainless steel to on sinks, countertops, and cabinets.

Now that you have your bathroom’s design theme, measure the space you’ll be using for your new additions. Layout plans of where and how much space you’ll be allotting for each, accounting for about 18 inches to 48 inches. Cabinets are the best to begin with since they give the room more space to breathe. You can choose from linen closets, toilet cabinets, recessed cabinets, medicine cabinets and wall cabinets.

If you want complete storage in your bathroom, it would be best to use a double sink bathroom vanity. For families with more than one child sharing a bathroom, you can avoid bathroom wars with this sink. The double cabinets give more storage, allowing more storage and separation toiletries. It also saves everyone more time preparing for school or work.

Your bathroom’s overall aesthetics can be enhanced with the right lighting. Lighting sets the mood, so if you’re going for a natural look, use large windows or skylights. For a dimmer feel, use recessed lights or pendant lights. Sinks can also help in setting the design tone. There is a wide range of shapes to choose from: rectangular, oval, round, or square. You should also take note of the sink’s material and how it goes with the rest of the room. Porcelain or china go with old style designs while glass or copper work well with a modern look.

Once you’ve arranged your basic bathroom elements, you can place a walk-in closet or a dressing area. Dressing areas function best with kids. This way, they make less of a mess with clothes in their bedrooms. Walk-in closets are best arranged in front of the bathroom or as the bathroom’s extension. Once you’ve decided on your cabinets, sinks, and dressing areas, you’re ready to enjoy your bathroom’s relaxing design.
